When the Shopfitter becomes the Client – Introduction

You would think that since we build restaurants, retail stores and offices for a living it would be easy to transition to the position of customer from contractor for the purposes of our own fitout.

Well, it most definitely isn’t! It has been a long, drawn out process to get to the “onsite” stage with delays with the developer and council and now, as luck would have it, we have now been left with no alternative than to schedule our project in one of our peak periods. Can anyone else hear the “eeeekkkkk!” coming out of North Lakes? That is the sound of the directors of What’s On freaking out! Luckily we have an amazing team of Project Managers who are around to support us and keep us calm and as stress free as possible during our own build, just as they do for our clients during theirs.

As much as possible, we will try to keep you updated as to how the process of our very own office fitout is going for us. We would love to hear of any similarities between our build and yours and any differences as well. We already have a better appreciation and understanding of the process our clients go through before they or their designers are in contact with us and we are only in week one of the fitout.
